Here are some helpful links for more immediate support. And the GCC team has put together some mental health app recommendations that you may find useful. Check out the Therapy Blog for more information and questions answered about therapy, modalities and approaches.

1. COAST Halton Outreach and Support Team
“Crisis Outreach and Support Team (COAST) provides Halton Region residents aged 16 and over, who are experiencing a mental health crisis with immediate outreach and support. 24 hours-a-day, seven days a week.Intake assessments are completed for each call and workers will provide support and advice regarding next steps.”

2. Kid’s Helpline
“Whether by phone, text, mobile app or through the website, you can connect whenever you want, however you want. You’ll be connected to a volunteer Crisis Responder who can talk to you about any issue — big or small. You can end the conversation at any time by texting the word STOP. (This means that we won’t send you any more messages unless you text again.)”

3. Anxiety Canada
“Anxiety Canada is a leader in developing free online, self-help, and evidence-based resources on anxiety. How do you know when the signs of anxiety you experience might be significant enough to qualify for an anxiety disorder? An appointment with your family physician or a trained mental health professional is a good first step.”

4. Depression Hurts – Mood Disorders
“Depression is a condition that can and should be treated. You do not have to struggle through it alone. There are resources you can turn to, for help along this journey.”

5. NEDIC National Eating Disorder Helpline
